|Interactive Map of Finger Lakes Regional Watershed Alliance (FLRWA) locations !!!!|
In 2010, nine watershed associations from across the Finger Lakes region came together and formed the Finger Lakes Regional Watershed Alliance (FLRWA -www.flrwa.org).
As stated on their website, the Alliance's purposes "are to bring together the members, expertise and desires of the Finger Lakes watershed associations to preserve and protect their watersheds with a collective regional voice; to join forces to advocate for mutually beneficial regional changes, backed by sound research; and to promote collective actions that represent the desires of the entire Finger Lakes region".
Further, it is a strong belief of the Alliance that watershed associations working together will likely have more positive results facing lake issues then acting alone, and in turn can develop successful pilot programs that can be shared across the region.
In a support of these efforts the Institute for the Application of Geospatial Technologies (IAGT) has utilized an existing interactive mapping system and added locational markers on the lakes of the involved FLWRA associations. This system (FIMS) can be found here: www.fllowpamap.org/ (FIMS)
Information is currently being added to FIMS. Open FIMS and click on "Other" projects (category 10) to see the markers for the FLRWA members. Hovering over the markers and then clicking on "View project details..." will provide contact information for each association.
